ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am a straight A student, with a 4.0 GPA and am in the top of my class. I am currently in the only AP class available to me and am enrolled in PSAT/SAT preparation classes. I have taken the PSAT and plan to take the SAT this year. I have had perfect attendance for eight years, because I honestly think it makes more sense to attend classes and not fall behind in work causing a detriment to my grades. I have acted as a peer tutor and am one of three students at my school in my fourth year of Mandarin Chinese. I receive numerous awards of excellence from my academic teachers each year and have competed and placed in English, Science, and various fine art UIL competitions since elementary school.
Community Service
I was selected from hundreds of applicants to be a Jr. Volunteer at Cook Children's Hopsital this summer and achieved almost double my minimum hour requirements, allowing me to participate in the program again this next summer. While completing my regular duties, I was also on the committee to plan the hospital's volunteer talent show for the patients. I have over 400 volunteer hours logged since the beginning of 2012, acquired from my work at the hospital, through my school, the local food bank, and with my family. Each year my family puts together care bags for homeless people including neccessities like blankets, handmade hats, water, toothbrushes, snacks, rain ponchos, and more. We hand the bags out in Houston on Christmas Eve and have given away about 200 bags and plan to expand.
Government
I was elected as Class President this year, and have since completed a service project, fundraisers, and begun to plan a school dance. I was asked by my principal to be Yearbook Editor this year and we have since made changes to the program widely earning satisfaction from students! I was asked to be an officer of my school's International Thespian Honor Society troupe. My director has again asked me to be an officer in the upcoming year and to apply as a Chapter Thespian Officer which would make me a select Texas Thespian representative nationally. I am also in the process of founding my school's first Photography Club and have been asked to serve as Student Director of our middle shcool musical. I will be applying for National Honor Society this year and an officer position, as well.
