ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have a 3.1 CORE GPA. I tend to excel in the majority of my math classes. I am currently enrolled in College Math 155/161 at Southeastern University (SLU) and I have three college credit hours from College Chemistry 121 which I was also enrolled in at SLU. I was enrolled into these classes through a program through SLU called Upward Bound and I am currently a participant in the Math Science division of that program. This program is a commitment to attend 16 Saturdays during the academic years, which consist of college prep classes along with my Math 155/161 class and its from 8:30am til 12:45pm. In addition this program consist of a six weeks of on campus boarding "College life" we stay in the dorms and from 8:30am til about 8:30pm we are out attending a variety of college based classes.
Community Service
I have taken part in a fair amount of volunteer work, I've always gotten a bit of thrill from helping people that I know need it. I have done a few things with some of our local churches, such as, vacation bible school and a program called AWANA which is a lot like a Sunday school you would typically attend in the morning but its a program designed for Sunday evenings. I volunteered for vacation bible school for two summers and I was able to volunteer at two different churches which has given me three completed summers. AWANA is during the academic year and I was able to help in a variety of ways for about three years. Typically I just volunteer for any needed services. For instance, one year I helped our State Governor's Office to make promotional phone calls before an election.
Government
I like to think of myself as a leader. When assigned group projects at school I'm always one of the ones that like to take charge if no one objects I am not a perfectionist as much as I just refuse to turn something in unfinished or something that was obviously just thrown together. When I'm assigned a task I will complete it and have it looking presentable. My leadership skills must show because this past summer I was nominated and elected into the Vice President position on the Math Science/Classic Upward Bound Student Council and I currently still hold that position. The student council has about twenty high school students and our president, along with myself have shown our administrative and leadership qualities with our ability to keep control of such a large group of students.
