Arts
I have been involved in the choir program all throughout my high school career. Within the past four years, I have been a member of the All Region Mixed Choir . I have also had the opportunity to audition and perform with the Texas All State Women and Mixed choirs. Five kids from every region in the state of Texas are able to audition for the All State choirs and from them, very few make it to perform in the TMEA convention in February. Along with performing in these choirs, I have been a member of the Madrigal Singers as well as the A Cappella choir at my school, which are both the Varsity choirs. I have been on the choir executive board. I have had the roles of Librarian, Section Leader, and Vice President. I have performed as the character Ado Annie in the musical Oklahoma! as well.
Community Service
I have been a member of the National Honor Society at my school since my Junior Year. I have also been on the executive committee as a Fall Event Director for both years. With this position, I have planned the Induction Ceremony as well as been involved in multiple service activities we create for our members. One is Hope for the Holidays, where we adopted a local elementary school and gave 80 kids a Christmas that they could not afford. I am also involved in the National Charity League in my community. We must have a minimum of 25 service hours every year and 10 league hours. I also volunteer at my church as a director for the children's choir and I am also a volunteer for the children's program called Awana's. Every summer I volunteer as a VBS music director as well.
Academics
I have taken a majority of AP and Honors classes all throughout my high school career. I have maintained all A's and B+'s. I always work hard in my academics, since that is the most important thing in high school. I have been on the Honor Roll for every grading period in my high school career. I have also taken the AP U.S. History test as well as the AP English 3 test and have passed both with a 3 and a 4. I have maintained above a 5.0 GPA throughout high school. I am in the top 4% of my class. I am ranked 27 out of 683. I always score commended on my TAKS test. I am always involved in my classroom setting, and I attend extra tutoring if I do not understand or need extra help. I also create study groups will my peers before exams, so we are all able to teach and help one another.
