Academics
I'm currently enrolled in 3 AP Classes as well as 2 Honors classes. In May I received 4’s on both my AP exams in Calculus AB and U.S. History. I received the Prairie State Achievement Award for excelling in all subjects on the PSAE exam. I also received a letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program for my performance on the PSAT exam. I work hard in school and do my best to maintain a GPA of 3.7. In April I scored a 33 on the ACT. Most recently I received a letter from the Illinois Student Association, naming me a 2013 State Scholar for Illinois. After completing my 3rd year in Law Club, I was elected President for the 2012-13 school year.
Faith
I've participated in 5 Youth Symposiums held by the Sikh Religious Society of Chicago. Three times I've won 1st and 2nd place awards, and gone on to give my speech at statewide symposium events. I've been raised as a devout Sikh and attended Camp Sikh Virsa from a young age. I recently became a Junior Counselor at Camp Sikh Virsa and have helped organize community projects for food and coat drives as well as other projects such as: sending a petition to the French Government on use of turbans and burqas, making art pieces for widows in Punjab, India, and tying blankets for orphans in Chicago through the SALDEF organization. Through a Sikh learning group called Sohji Sangat. my family and I have spent hours volunteering at the local Feed My Starving Children Foundation in Arlington Heights.
Arts
I am a Hip-Hop Artist, by the name of Alpha Singh. Last year I performed at the school Talent Show and several open-mic events. I also performed at The Lake Zurich Battle of the Bands where my band and I won the 1st place award. Last year I released my debut album, "The Saga Continues" which was picked up by several local blogs and received over 2000 downloads online. On top of this, my Youtube account has over 100,000 hits. I plan on pursuing a career in the Music Industry but in a strictly business aspect. Making music is fun, but my true passion lies in business and marketing.
