ATTRIBUTES
Academics
Eager to get my foot in the door when it comes to experiencing a true college load, I have taken and succeeded in 12 honors and AP courses throughout my high school career. In addition to handling a heavy course load, I have been the editor of my high school award-winning newspaper, The Roar, for the past 3 years. I have also been awarded for my journalistic talents by The Sacramento Bee who printed my article, "Saving Bucks at the Thrift Stores" in a special edition of their newspaper. Being an Honor Roll student and managing a 4.3 GPA is nothing new to me as I am in the top 5% of my class. Because of my academic excellence, I have been awarded the Distinguished Scholar Award at my school in addition to being chosen as a valedictorian.
Community Service
I started out by volunteering at the library and eventually began working with various clubs such as National Honors Society, Rotary Interact, etc. I also volunteered with the district's special education summer school program dedicated to helping children with special needs excel. I later traveled to Sri Lanka and served as a tutor there as well. Hoping to leave my own mark in the service learning community, I established my own clubs at school called Be the Change, dedicated to working with national organizations to provide relief in third world countries. So far, we have worked with Nothing But Nets raising $1000 for mosquito nets in Cambodia and raised $3,750 with H2O For Life to build a well in Kenya. Working with H2O For Life again, Be the Change is still active and thriving.
Work
I was employed as soon as I was legally able to obtain a job. First, I worked as an administrative assistant for a Nursing Education program called Neo Inc. I was in charge of grading and creating tests. Along with that job, I was able to obtain an internship at Nordstrom. As an intern on Nordstrom’s BP Fashion Board, I am able to learn about the marketing, business, and management aspect of retail. Due to a schedule conflict, I had to unfortunately leave the Neo Inc. However, I was able to obtain a job as an administrative assistant at Placer Law Group shortly after. Closer to the field I would like to get into, I am able to learn more about law while interacting with customers and being in charge of audits. I am still employed at Nordstrom and Placer Law Group.
