Academics
In the classroom, I have been consistently exceeding in everything I do since I have been in school. In the past four years, I have maintained a 4.0 while taking many difficult classes including AP Calculus and several Des Moines Area Community College classes on our school's campus. I have also been enrolled in every science class offered at our high school, including Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science, Advanced Biology, Advanced Chemistry, and Physics. I believe that I have gone above and beyond by excelling in the classroom and having a positive attitude. Teachers have been able to depend on me to finish my homework on time, and I bring responsibility and trustworthiness into their environment so hat they are more comfortable. I also scored a 29 on the ACT.
Faith
When I was about five years old, I accepted Jesus as Savior. At the time, I understood why and how I was saved, but I didn't really know how to live out my life for Christ at such a young age. Throughout, I have had many struggles and trials that have shaped me and my faith and trust in the Lord. In recent years, I have had many opportunities to put my faith into action. The first came when I was a sophomore. Our youth group was able to go on a mission trip to Minneapolis to serve with another youth group. My job was to plan and lead a bible study. In the end, my work paid off. Two of the children responded to the lesson and accepted Christ. In the recent years, I have been a student leader in our church bible study. Although I don't fully lead yet, I do help out and people can trust me.
Athletics
During high school, I have had many opportunities to excel and truly enjoy sports and the aspect of a team. In 8th grade softball, I was a varsity softball starter playing first base, and was nominated as an all-conference player. In cross country, I became an all-conference runner for two years, and a state qualifier for three. In basketball, I have made all-conference for 2 years, and am waiting on the final parts of the season. Our team is currently ranked 9th in #A. , I have had success thus far in track. My 4x800 relay team was 6th in the state. That was an accomplishment. My leadership attributes carry over from the classroom to the field. Whether I am on or off the court or field, coaches have relied on me to help my teammates and trusted me to guide and look after younger players.
