Academics
I have taken the most rigorous courses my high school offers, maintained a 4.72 GPA, and been on the high honor roll every quarter. My 10 AP courses include: AP Calculus BC(5), AP US History(5), AP English Language(5), AP World History(5), AP Chemistry(4), AP Statistics, AP Economics, AP Biology, AP English Literature & AP Spanish. I received the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. I have taken Latin since 10th grade. I received Magna Cum Laude on the Level 1 National Latin Exam and Maxima Cum Laude on the level 2 exam. I am a National Merit Commended Student. I scored 2360 or 1590 on the SAT, 770 on the World History SAT, 750 in Spanish, and 750 in Literature. I attended the Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth Summer Program. I was accepted Early Decision to Dartmouth College.
Community Service
My greatest passion has been my commitment to literacy advocacy and tutoring. This summer I earned my Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. For my project I designed, implemented & led a summer reading program for underprivileged youth. I worked with groups of elementary school students to develop literacy skills and foster a life-long love of reading. Many of my students didn't have access to books at home, so I ran a book drive to give each child books to grow their at home library. The program was a huge success. Throughout high school I have spent many hours volunteering as a tutor for younger students in my town, my high school through NHS, and neighboring areas. In 11th grade I was selected NHS Homework Help Coordinator. I enjoy helping others to succeed academically.
Other Achievements
My other achievements are field hockey, dance and work. I've played for my high school JV/V Field Hockey Team for 4 years and have spent many hours as a youth field hockey clinic volunteer and a youth field hockey referee. I was chosen to be the recipient of The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete Award. I have danced since age 2 and am a Senior Company Member at my studio. I take classes, choreograph and perform. I spend 6 hours per week and am classically trained in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern and Lyrical. I've worked 15 hours per week for 2 years as a waitress/bakery employee for a local restaurant. I'm able to use my strong Spanish speaking skills to communicate with co-workers. I value my work for the life skills and responsibility I've gained.
