Academics
At my school of nearly 1,000 students, I rank in the top five percent of my class. My weighted class rank in 38 out of 998 students. My GPA, at the end of the first quarter of my junior year, was a 3.92 unweighted and nearly a 5.0 weigthed. I take two AP classes as a junior and recieved a 97% in my AP history class and an A in my AP english class, as well. I accel in history, english, and fine art classes, but do well in math and science.
Teachers appreciate not only my performance in their classes, but my participation during class and the respect that I show my peers and superiors.
I pride myself in my strong work ethic and ability to balance grades, family, church, and cocurriculars.
Arts
I have participated in the arts since the tender age of three years old when I began dance classes. At sixteen years old, I am still an avid dancer and take jazz and technique classes each week. I was on my high school dance team and recently switched to cheerleading.
My father owns a guitar store, so I learned to play guitar four years ago, which helps me with my true passion, singing.
I sing in the school choir, as well as participate in musical theater, with my crowning role being when I played Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I also perform solo pieces and duets at school talent shows and local events.
Performing on stage is where I truly come alive and music and dance not only provide a positive creative outlet for me, but they have allowed me to make lifelong friends.
Faith
Faith is a very important aspect of my life and allows me to serve the community. For three years I have been a lector at my church, reading scripture at the noon services once a month.I also go on retreat weekends with other church members, such as the Kaiors retreat.
In addition to literally participating in the mass itself, I belong to a youth group called Quest, which allows teens to continue prayer and service outside of mass. My Quest group works at soup kitchens, organizes the Secret Santa program for a partner church in an impoverished area, and helps to set-up the monthly homeless shelter held at our church.
I had articles featured in Loyola Press religion textbooks and was interviewed in a Loyola Press video to convey my ideas of faith and spirituality.
