ATTRIBUTES
Arts
I've always had a passion for performing arts. Going into high school I decided to try out for the color guard twirling team. I've been on it for four years now. My solo last year got third place at state and my duet got second. My junior year I was co-captain and my senior year I was chosen to be captain. For the field show we performed this year, we did “Phantom of the Opera” in which I was Christine one of the main characters and my color guard got the highest score our school has ever received. My solo performance received a superior with distinction.
Outside of school I attend a dance studio. I take three dance classes a week: Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz. This year I got the role of Snow White for our 2013 recital.
When it comes to performing arts, I wear my heart on my sleeve.
Faith
I've been attending my church for ten years. I participated in the child programs there and won the "most valuable student" award and the "best all around" award. I've been in the youth group for 5 years now. I am the tech for not only the youth service but also the Sunday service. I run the sound board, create all the power point presentations, run the words during music and take care of all the videos. I also participate in small group classes. I help take care of the children services. I help with the dinners on Wednesday nights and take food to our elderly members. I help in the preparations of the Vacation Bible School and this year I interior designed three of the classrooms on campus. I love working with all the kids, staff and church family. The church has really become a home.
Community Service
I've always had a yearning for helping others. My dad is in the military so this gave me the perfect opportunities to serve. I've participated for four years now in sponsoring an elementary school and putting together backpacks full of supplies to provide for the children. We also give out toys to families and children for the holidays.
At school, I decided to take my love for performing and combine it with giving back. I run a special needs color guard for the special needs kids at our school. I get to interact with them, teach and perform. I also started doing this at the YMCA. I teach a class of special needs elementary kids dance and twirling. Serving the community is just something I like to do to pay it forward.
