Academics
In eighth grade, I was the class salutatorian. I have always been a bit of a nerd, but that title pleases me – I love being smart! I currently attend St. Ignatius College Prep, a challenging high school, and I could not be enjoying myself more or doing so well. I am a 2013-2014 Illinois State Scholar, and am an active member on my school’s Scholastic Bowl team. During all four years of high school, I have made honors will great grades while taking challenging classes. Right now in my senior year, I am taking 3 AP courses and 3 Honors classes. I plan on becoming a veterinarian and cannot wait to begin my studies in college!
Community Service
I love to serve! My parish started a Youth Ministry three years ago, and I have been a member from the beginning. We started with two adults and four kids, tagging along with another Youth Group on a Habitat for Humanity trip. We have also taken part in the Special Olympics. Those days were so fun for me! The athletes have so much passion and love having fun, be it in golf, volleyball, or gymnastics. I have also done service through school, working at a senior center. I love doing service because I am helping those in need, but in the same way I help myself – service gives me a joy that nothing else can!
Faith
My parents have raised me in a Roman Catholic faith, and have given me a strong base by the example they have provided to my brother, sister, and I. In grade school, my twin sister and I were cantors. My brother would accompany us on the piano. While I do not sing at Mass anymore, I am a Eucharistic Minister and lector at Sunday Masses. I am also very involved in the Pro-Life Movement. As part of my high school’s Respect Life Club, I have attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C. for the past two years. My faith helps me to be a better person: more loving, accepting, and kind to those I meet.
