ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am a student with Cystic Fibrosis. I have been hospitalized and take many treatments & medications to keep my health in check the best I can. I don't let my disease get in my way when it comes to life and my education. I have been able to keep my GPA above 3.00 usually running around 3.6. I feel I can be a very good asset wherever I go and I will study hard to continue to keep my grades in the highest standards I can. I have received many compliments from my teachers on how I have been able to manage my time, health, and studies. I have had hard times with my health but I have a strong support group between my family, friends and school.
Athletics
I have played Varsity Golf for all four years at high school and the first three years my team and I have been able to win three Team Championships. I won 7th place in the County Championships in my Sophomore year and I had been the #1 golfer all four years. But my passion is baseball. I played JV Baseball in my Freshman year and won the Unsung Hero Award. I played Varsity Baseball both Sophomore and Junior year and plan to play in my Senior year. I am a catcher, which can be difficult for someone with Cystic Fibrosis, also I can slightly pitch, and I can play second, short, third and outfield positions. I also play summer ball. I cannot wait to play Baseball in College. I may look small due to my illness but I can keep up with the best of them when it comes to my passion for baseball.
Other Achievements
I am a recipient of the CF Heroes of Hope Award which is awarded to Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients that show how well they can manage their life in school and the community while keeping up on the compliance of their medication and treatments. I am also a recipient to the Hayley Milbourne Integrity Award that was awarded to me by The Baltimore Sun Paper. This award is given to a student that shows integrity and community leadership. I was awarded this because of my outreach about Cystic Fibrosis for my volunteerism, CF Awareness and fundraising efforts, playing school and summer sports, and keeping my studies in high standards with integrity. I have also been awards several school sports awards although I feel it wouldn't be possible without the support of my parents.
