ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
I have been the top runner on my high school's Cross Country team for all four years of my high school career. I have also been one of the top distance runners on the Indoor and Outdoor Track teams since Freshman year.
In that time, I have claimed the Cross Country, Indoor 3200m, and Outdoor 3200m records, and I am a part of the current record-holding Indoor and Outdoor 4x800m teams. I won the Cross Country state meet my Senior year, the Indoor State 3200m my Sophomore and Junior years, the Outdoor State 3200 my Junior year, and the Indoor State 1600m my Sophomore year. I was also a part of the winning Indoor State 4x800m team.
Finally, I am the three-time Herald Mail Cross Country Runner of the Year, and the two-time Herald Mail Indoor Track Athlete of the year.
Arts
I am the first-chair flute/piccolo player in my high school's Symphonic Band, which received a score of a 2 at the State Large Ensemble Band Festival at Morgan State University. I have held this position my Freshman and Junior years (Senior year pending), and have participated in All-County Band since Freshman year, All-County Orchestra since Sophomore year, and the County-wide Solo and Small Ensemble Festival since sixth grade
Outside of school, I have played the flute for my church choir since sixth grade. I am also a member of the local Community Band, in which I have currently been participating for two years.
I have been taking lessons in flute since seventh grade, and with my instructor have performed in recitals and for various churches in that time.
Other Achievements
Since entering middle school, I have always had a passion for language. I took Spanish I (one) and II (two) through middle school, and continued with the language in High School, receiving A's in every class, and effectively exhausted the ability to take classes in Spanish. For my efforts, I earned a 4 on the AP Spanish Language exam (my school does not offer Spanish Literature), and have been a member of the Spanish National Honor Society since Junior year.
Currently, as I can no longer take classes in Spanish, I have moved on to what I believe is a more fascinating language: Japanese. I am currently in Japanese I (one), will take Japanese II (two) next semester, and aim to continue taking classes in both languages in college, where I will major in Modern Languages and Linguistics.
