Academics
I maintained a 4.0 throughout my three years of middle and still have a 4.0 as a senior. I have been on the honor roll since 6th grade, and in high school I have taken 3 AP classes, which won me an AP Scholar Award for performing well on the tests, 7 Honors classes, and 4 College in the High School classes. I received a 2000 on the SAT and a 31 on the ACT. I have also received three Outstanding Student Awards, a Wesco Academic Achievement Award, was recommended to compete in the American Mathematics Competition twice, and won my high school's nomination for Washington State University's Regents Scholar award.
Community Service
I’m on Snohomish County’s Teen Leadership Council of United Way, where we organize service events for other teens in the county. We’re planning backpack and goods drives for the 2013 Project Homeless Connect, which is an annual day that provides numerous goods and services to the homeless in our community. I’m also on National Honor Society cabinet and spent 50 hours organizing our homecoming dance. My favorite event this year has been making and delivering 150 stuffed stockings to the Seattle Children’s Hospital. I have also done other events for NHS, like EACAP childcare, benefit dances, tutoring, Relay for Life, Gospel Mission Thanksgiving pie drives, a women’s essentials drive, Alfy’s scholarship fundraiser, Christmas caroling for seniors, helping with younger school events, and more.
Arts
I’ve been playing the clarinet since 5th grade. In middle school I was first chair for most of 7th and 8th grade and also played the bass guitar in our jazz band during 7th and 8th grade. I auditioned and made it into Wind Ensemble my freshman year, which is the highest level band in high school; I’ve been 1st chair for two years now. I’ve also been very involved in marching band since 9th grade – I won Overall Best Freshman and Best Overall Sophomore. I also won Best Overall Woodwind my junior year, when I was a co-section leader. In 9th and 10th grade I took yearbook, and my friend and I quickly moved up the chain as reliable staff members, which is why we are now the co-senior editors of the yearbook. We approve every page submitted. I've also danced three nights a week since 9th grade.
