Academics
Academics are something I hold above everything else. I have never gotten anything less than a B on my report card. I have a weighted GPA of 5.2 and an unweighted 3.8. I am currently enrolled in two AP classes and I have taken and completed three other AP classes over my last three years. With my extremely rigorous course load and great grades, I have shown my academic brilliance. In addition, I have also mentored and helped younger students within my football with different subjects ranging from reading comprehension to Biology to Algebra to World History. As an aspiring college student and teacher, I feel that Academics will always be the biggest part of my life.
Athletics
I was the starting Middle Linebacker on the Braulio Alonso Varsity football team, team captain, and defensive signal-caller. Football has been an important part of my life for the past four years. As a Freshman, I was a back-up linebacker on the Junior Varsity team. In my Sophomore year I became captain of the JV team and starting Middle Linebacker. As a Junior, I started on Varsity as a Defensive End, This year I went on to play in the HIllsborough County East/West All-Star Game. Through hard-work and perseverance I was able to accomplish these feats.. I contribute around 25 hours a week to football. Also, I am co-founder of a local youth Ultimate Frisbee club, We will play in the Jannus tournament at Lakewood Ranch later this month.
Community Service
My freshman year I was a part of the Alonso Teen Mentors Club. We tutored eight to ten-year-old kids in reading. Also, I was head-coach of NFL Flag4Kids football teams in my community for three seasons. I volunteered at a local recreation center's "Get Fit Day" to promote health and fitness to the youth. I helped out a local baseball league by donating time as an umpire. At Christmas, I volunteered my time and unloaded donated gifts from donors' cars at Metropolitan Ministries. I volunteered at Pinellas HOPE by serving breakfast and talking with the homeless that lived there.
