ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
I have been a member of our schools tennis team, track team, and most importantly, our basketball team. I have been a member of my school's varsity basketball team for four years and have been a varsity team captain for two years. Throughout my time on the team, I've been awarded JV MVP, Most Improved, and most inspirational. The award I am most proud of is most inspirational. I'm proud of this award because I believe in order to be a good leader you have to be able to really connect with the people around you. In my part as a team captain, I strive to inspire others to be the best they can be, to help them reach their potential, and to connect with them on a personal level in order to better not only the team, but for themselves personally.
Academics
Academics have been important since elementary school, where I was selected and tested to be apart of the SAGE program. This program was designed to get together academically talented students to challenge them in all subjects and critical thinking. I participated in this till 8th grade, when the program ended. In high school, I have lettered academically twice. I have maintained a 3.7 GPA along with an ACT score of 25. Throughout my senior year I help tutor kids every other day in whatever subject it may be. My diploma option is one of our school's honor programs, Gold Medallion. Within this you have to maintain a 3.0 GPA, complete 8 challenge classes, and complete a 45 minute presentation on your subject of choice to the school. I will study Kinesiology at Avila University in fall 2013.
Work
I have been working at a local grocery store, Hy-Vee, since my junior year. There I am a cashier and courtesy clerk. I work hard to keep our store's motto at the top of my checklist, where customer satisfaction is most important. I keep a constant smile on my face, work fast and efficiently with my customers, and help with whatever is asked of me. I've recently completed an online career internship class where I've learned how to create a resumé, discover the career path I want to go down, and perform an internship in that career choice. I completed an internship with our school's athletic trainer, where I learned what the daily life of that career is, how to work with clients, and learned how to complete some of the simple tasks that are required.
