Academics
Throughout my academic career, I have done my best to excel in school. I have been an honor roll student since fifth grade. I received the General Excellence key when I graduated from Saint Elizabeth Regional School, and I was Student of the Month freshman year at Whitehall High School. I have always taken honor classes, staying on the honor track. I am currently taking AP Calculus, AP English, and AP Government and Politics and Honors Spanish 4 this semester. Next semester, I am taking two honors classes, Honors Microeconomics and Honors Physics. I am currently a member of the National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Spanish Honors Society. I scored a 1920 on my SAT and a 27 on the ACT. I owe many thanks to my family's support and encouragement that got me where I am.
Community Service
I love volunteering and giving back to the community. I am a member of Leo Club for 3 years now, and I am currently the Treasurer. As a member of the Leo Club, I have helped out in the Blood Drive and participated in the Zephyr Games, which is spending time with the special education students at my school. One of our current projects I am in charge of is the Leo Club Eye Glasses Drive. Outside of school in the winter, I help my dad shovel my grandparents' and neighbors' driveways. I am also active in the Vietnamese community. During important festivities like Tet, I participated in traditional dance and am part of the youth choir. I love being able to help the community, and I especially love learning and connecting with my cultural roots.
Faith
Faith is extremely important to me and my family. Every day, we try our best to strengthen our relationship with God through prayer and our words and actions towards others. I am Catholic and an active member of the Saint Elizabeth Parish and the Vietnamese Community at Saint Simon and Jude. I am a lector for my Vietnamese church. I am also a group leader in my Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Group, Thieu Nhi Thanh The. Along with my other fellow leaders, I am in charge of leading the younger members in activities, games, and prayer. Through my church community and youth group, I have reached out to the community, caroling and visiting hospitals and nursing homes. I have also helped out at my parish's bible camp last summer. My faith is a big part of my life and sharing it is a joy to me.
