Academics
I'm currently a senior at Southern Guilford High in Greensboro, North Carolina. I'd say that I excel in academics. I'm ranked number 7 in a class of 210, was a Junior Marshall, in the National Honors Society, on the Quiz Bowl team, and have always been part of the Century Club(top 100 students) and A/B honor Roll. I've taken as many Honors and AP classes as my schedule would allow and have been very successful in each one, getting either an A or a B. My favorite core class was AP US History, which I got a 99.927% in and my favorite elective is either chorus or band. I strive very hard to be the best that I can be academically and I think that it shows!
Arts
I love the performing arts!! I've been a member of either band or chorus since I was in 6th grade. I started out playing the clarinet, but switched to bass clarinet in 7th grade. In 9th grade I learned to play the mellophone for marching band, joined the new jazz band club at our school, and joined chorus. In 10th grade I started playing tenor sax for jazz band, joined vocal ensemble, and started playing bells for marching band. In 11th grade my schedule only allowed for Vocal ensemble. This year, I was in marching band, percussion ensemble, and Vocal Ensemble! I made All-County band in 7th,8th, and 9th grade. I made All-District band in 8th grade and have been playing the guitar for 5 years now.
Work
I've been working at McDonald's for almost two years now. I started working because my family fell on hard times and I decided that I'd get a job to try and made the financial situation easier. Despite the fact that I only work about nine hours a week during the school year, I work hard and my managers and customers have noticed. My managers regularly receive compliments from customers because of my demeanor and how I interact with them. A lot of them seem impressed that I'm a teenager that uses "yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir", but that's just the way that my mother raised me to be: respectful.
