ATTRIBUTES
Faith
For the past three years, I have been a Religious Education teacher every Sunday morning for Grades 1, 2, and 8 at St Francis Xavier Parish in LaGrange, Illinois. I have really enjoyed being an active member of the parish and have also volunteered to be a lector and commentator on Sundays as well. I enjoy teaching the younger kids about their faith, making their sacraments and seeing them reach their full potential as members of our church. I have volunteered in the food pantry at St Francis as well and have assisted 8th graders with service projects to complete their confirmation requirements.
Academics
I am currently a Junior at Riverside Brookfield High School in Riverside, IL. During the past three years at RBHS, I have maintained an excellent unweighted grade point average of 3.88 and have taken over 4 AP classes. I have already taken the AP exam for Microeconomics and Macroeconomics and received a 4 out of 5. I have currently all honors classes this year along with my AP classes and have really enjoyed the challenges of a rigorous academic schedule. I have been an honor roll student since Jr High and have obtained a straight A average every year for the last six years. I am looking forward to taking the ACT and SAT in the spring and hope to do very well.
Community Service
I am extremely active in community service. My favorite volunteer opportunity has been the one in the field in which I am most interested: Health Care. I volunteered for over 64 hours this summer at Loyola Univ Med Ctr and have enjoyed learning the in's and out's of how a hospital works. I worked with pediatric patients, as a patient transporter, helped feed patients and pass out supplies, etc. This volunteer opportunity helped me to cement my decision to pursue a career in the medical field. I am active in my school and participate in student gov, Erika's Lighthouse (teen suicide prevention), Conflict Resolution team, Days of Service in the Village of Brookfield, & Library Assistant. I was awarded the Cook County Sheriff's Medal of Honor for outstanding service this past November.
