Academics
Academics have always been of great value to me. In elementary school I was tested and placed into Talented and Gifted classes. I continued to pursue academics in middle school by participating in advanced math classes and college level engineering courses. In high school I have taken multiple Advanced Placement classes. Also, as of spring I will have taken enough college credits in high school to obtain my Associates Degree. Additionally, I received a composite score of 28 on my ACT, with scores of 34 in Reading and 30 in English. I am also a member of National Honor Society, with an un-weighted GPA of 3.685. Also, I participate in academic extracurricular activities such as Engineering and Model UN. These accomplishments prepare me for a career in the field of education.
Athletics
I have found great success in athletics throughout my high school career. I have been a cheerleader for my high school for four years, and have been a captain of my squad for two of these years. I have also been a state runner-up twice, and a state champion once. Additionally, I have been selected by teammates and coaches to audition for the All-American cheerleader for three years. My senior year I was selected by coaches to be an Honor Squad Cheerleader, which includes only 200 of the state of Iowa's cheerleaders. During my junior year I was selected to try out for All-State cheer leading. Also, all four years of high school I was selected as an All-CIML academic award winner, for maintaining a high GPA throughout the athletic season. I was a varsity golfer during my sophomore year.
Community Service
Community service has been a very active part of my life. I taught dance classes for underprivileged youth at the YWCA. Also,as a Dodger cheerleader, I performed community service for the high school track, swimming, and cross country meets. For my Early Childhood Education class, I performed community service in a second grade classroom assisting students with difficulties in math and reading. Also, for National Honor Society I performed community service at the high school blood drive by assisting in donations and registrations, which raises 600 units of blood. As a member of St. Paul Church I have assisted in the teaching of Vacation Bible School classes and participating in canned food drives for the homeless shelter. I participated in 4H service by planting trees at the shelter.
