Academics
Academics is extremely important to me. I have been on the Honor Roll for every marking period for every year of High School I have completed so far. My weighted average is a 100.9 and my combined SAT score is a 1940. I challenge myself by taking the most demanding courses offered to me at my high school. I have been in all honors and Advanced Placement courses. Last year, I took my first AP class, which was U.S. History, and I took the test and received a 5. This year, I am currently enrolled in AP Physics, AP Calculus, and AP English IV. In the first marking period of this year, my weighted average is a 100.6. I am in the top 5% of my grade and I hope to improve my class rank as the year progresses.
Athletics
Ever since fifth grade I have participated in softball, and since my freshmen year of high school, I have participated in both softball and volleyball. Sophomore year, I received first team all league and honorable mention all county for softball. Junior year, I received first team all league for softball and first team all league and second team all county for volleyball. Senior year, I have so far received first team all league and second team all county for volleyball. My senior year, I was also voted captain of the volleyball team by my teammates and coaches. In volleyball, I have played three different positions, demonstrating my versatility as a player. Besides playing for the school volleyball and softball teams, I also play on club and traveling teams.
Community Service
This past summer, I dedicated 8 weeks of my summer to volunteering at the Summer Camp Program at my local Boys and Girl Club. Also, about a year ago, my summer softball league team sponsored a charity softball marathon for a 4-year-old boy diagnosed with stomach cancer. The fundraiser was called the The 2011 Andrew Goodell Softball Marathon and we raised over $15,500 for Andrew and his family. I am also an active member of Keystone. I have participated in many service events with Keystone, including: a Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk, a Free Throw for AIDS event, a Back to School Night, a Volleyball tournament in which all the proceeds went towards the Homeless, etc.
