ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have been blessed with a great scholastic ability which, coupled with my personal motivation, has brought me great success in school. Through high school I participated in all four Advanced Placement class offered by my school and maintained high marks in the classes as well as on the AP tests. In my senior year I also took the opportunity to concurrently enroll in my local college where I have also found success. I have maintained a 4.28 GPA on a 5.0 scale and hold the number one rank in my senior class. My standardized test scores also reflect my ability, as I stand at a 31 on the ACT. Through middle and high school I competed on my school's academic team, obtaining numerous regional and state championships and even competing in the national competition.
Community Service
I have enjoyed many opportunities to give back through my local hospital auxiliary, the Future Farmers of America program, National Honor Society, and the Boy Scouts of America. Over two hundred hours of my time was spent at a local hospital where I ran the gift shop whose funds helped improve their medical technology. During my three years in the FFA, I enjoyed helping put on the yearly petting zoo for my school. Through my schools NHS chapter, I served my community through feeding underprivileged kids, raising funds for local charities, and beautifying my schools campus. My biggest passion was the BSA. I used my outdoor knowledge to teach skills to cub scouts, boy scouts, and venturers as well as to lead local conservation projects, promote the venturing program, and staff local camps.
Other Achievements
The Boy Scouts of America has been a wonderful facilitator for my love of outdoor adventure, but as a girl in a very male dominated group I have had to overcome much adversity. As a fourteen year old, I founded my local Venturing crew in 2009 and I continue to serve as president of it. I obtained the Triple Crown of High Adventure with my crew and was the only youth female on base at two of the three camps. I excelled in leadership, becoming the first girl in my council to complete the National Youth Leadership Training, which I returned to staff the next year. I also participated in the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience, the highest leadership training BSA offerers. I have been awarded with the Outdoor Bronze Award, Venturing Gold Award, and the Council Leadership Award.
