Academics
I was currently inducted into the National Honor Society, and I'm currently ranked in the top 15% of my class of 405 seniors. I scored 1620 on my SAT, and I'm currently taking 3 AP classes; all of my classes throughout my high school and Junior High years have been Pre-AP or AP classes. This includes my Spanish class, where my grades allowed me to be inducted into the Spanish Honor Society, during my junior year. I've been a member of our schools UIL Headline Writing team for three years and the UIL News Writing Team for two years. I'm also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and have been since my Junior year.
Arts
My strong passion for art is what drives me to pursue a career in animation, I applied on the early admissions plan, and was accepted into the Academy of Art University during the spring of my Junior year. There I will strive to acquire a degree in 2-D animation. I am currently the Photography Editor for my school paper, and have brought the technique of using photo-manipulation to our publication. I was a photographer for two years on the staff, and now I also have published short fictional stories in our school publication. I've been a member of my schools art club for three years, and have won three awards for my entries into art shows. I was recently inducted into the National Art Honor Society. I've also began to practice creating digital drawings, and hope to improve in this field.
Community Service
I've been a member of my schools Interact club for three years. I participate in are our yearly Custodial Christmas party, which is a way for us as students to show the custodial and cafeteria staff that we appreciate their hard work. I've also participated in trick-or-treating for canned goods on Halloween; we go door to door in local neighborhoods and collected canned goods for the local Good Shepard Mission. I also participate in Safety town which is a program for elementary school children in our community to learn proper safety measures, such as fire and bike safety, and taught how to contact the police in an emergency situation as well as other things. I really enjoy being able to have an impact on the kids, and knowing I'm helping them learn the skills they'll need to be safe.
