Faith
Throughout my life my faith has played a huge role in the development of my character and personality. As a freshman in high school I personally accepted Jesus Christ as my savior and was baptized in my church the following year. From that time I have been actively involved in my church's youth group and have volunteered in various church ministries as well. From various activities and trips I have come to trust Christ and know I can trust Him with my life and my life's choices. Because of the work God has played in my life I have made the decision to pursue a Christian education at Northwestern College in Saint Paul, MN. I hope to be set apart from the average college norm of partying and typically walking away from the faith. I hope to be an example to others through my faith.
Community Service
Volunteering and community service are two things of huge importance to me! I have been involved with several different volunteer activities specifically, Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF). STLF has played a huge part in my love and passion for service. After going on my first Pay It Forward tour with STLF and seeing the joy of doing something as simple as wiping down pews in a church or raking some leaves on someones lawn is something words cannot simply describe. Following my first tour some friends and I were encouraged to start a group within my community. We began the FM STLF Chapter which has been meeting twice a month doing simple service projects in the community. I believe service is something everyone needs to experience sometime throughout their lives.
Other Achievements
DECA has introduced me to the business realm through various trips, projects, and leadership activities. My Junior year I competed in the Travel and Tourism team role play event where I received first place in North Dakota and was able to continue onto the National level. This year I am involved in the Public Relations Written project in which my partners and I have created the campaign “Commit to be Fit” in which we hope to encourage youth throughout our community to be active throughout their lives. DECA has not only taught me what business is, but it has shown me what it means to be a leader and has developed my leadership qualities and encouraged me to pursue a career in the business field.
