ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have been a student known to complete all assignments with a great deal of thought. Throughout middle and high school, I have achieved an average of at least a 92, with a cumulative average of 94 for my high school career. On the ACT Plus Writing I received a 29, and on the SAT I received a 1990. Over the years, I have completed four AP classes and several honors courses, as well as currently taking AP Calculus. I have received four fours on these AP exams, and one three. This year, I am also a participant in a hospital program at St. Peter's Hospital in which I have the opportunity to shadow several professions in the hospital. This opportunity involves classroom hours as well in which I am receiving credits for several other honors classes. I am also a member of National Honor Society.
Community Service
Since ninth grade, I have been the president of the BKW Key Club. Through this, I have helped in leading our school to help the community through volunteering and fundraising. Hundreds of dollars have been raised to combat world hunger (UNICEF), childhood cancer (Pennies for Patients), and muscular dystrophy (MDA). Every year, our club also contributes to the school through cleaning teachers' rooms during Teacher Appreciation Week and reading to kindergarteners on Dr. Seuss's birthday. Through this organization and National Honor Society, I perform over thirty hours of community service annually. I have given blood during the Red Cross Blood drives and babysat throughout my town free of cost to further help the community.
Athletics
Since the age of eight, I have been involved in Traditional Japanese Karate. Beginning as a white belt, I continued my training in hopes of achieving the rank of black belt. I reached this accomplishment in November of 2009 and continued to reach the rank of second degree back belt in November of 2012. Although it was a long journey to achieve that rank, it was well worth the time. I grew socially, physically, and mentally through my training which greatly contributed to my dedication to my studies.
Even with my participation in karate, I have made time in the past few years to participate in my high school's Varsity Soccer team. I have been a goalie on the team for the past two years, which has been a great experience for me as well.
