Academics
Whether I’m conducting a forensic science lab or participating at a math competition, I always keep academics my priority. I have a GPA of 4.536 and rank in the top 2% of a class of over 800 students. As a junior, I am part of the rigorous International Baccalaureate program and enjoy and excel in college level classes such as Physics and Calculus: my favorites among the 6 AP classes I am taking this year. I recently took my ACTs and SATs and anticipate on top scores. I have been an honor roll student and presidential award recipient since elementary school, and continue to be part of honors societies, such as National Honors Society, Beta Chi, Mu Alpha Theta (historian and mathlete), and Key Club (secretary). I aspire to graduate a Valedictorian and Summa Cum Laude of the school.
Arts
I recently competed at the districts level of the Thespians International Honors competition with my play publicity designs. I was awarded with straight superior ratings and will be competing at the State level in March. I'm also a former member of Pizazz Show Choir, a nationally recognized choir, in which I competed at Disney and Universal and learnt singing, dancing, and leadership skills. For visual arts, I won first place last year in my school for my Google 4 Doodle drawing and my photography has been published in many magazines. As historian of Mu Alpha Theta, I created a "MAOnopoly" scrapbook, awarded 4th in the state and 10th at National Convention in Boston in July 2012. Lastly, I have a passion for piano and have been playing for 8 years, performing at nursing homes and recitals.
Community Service
I always challenge myself to think of creative ways to help the community. As the Key Club secretary, I was responsible for organizing the senior Golden Games that our school hosted and also volunteer in projects to help children in need. I play piano during the holidays for nursing homes as I enjoy giving the gift of music. On another musical note, I sing Christmas carols at the Epcot Candlelight and dance for the Dancing for Diabetes program. I am also a volunteer at the Pet Rescue by Judy adoption center as I love to help animals in any way possible! I am almost a deputy black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I enjoy helping students learn their forms and sparring techniques. This summer, I will be travelling to India and I am really eager to assist the children at the blind association there.
