ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have been an honor roll student for as long as I can remember. My elementary and middle school teachers always speak of seeing a different type of intelligence in me. They all suggested that a private high school would be a better challenge for me over the high schools in my area. De Smet Jesuit High School showed to be a perfect fit for me. Academic excellence is an attribute that I and my parents find pride in. I have learned to manage an average GPA of 3.9 and remaining on honor roll, while playing for high intensity varsity football and track and field programs receiving the Minds in Motion Scholar Athlete award in both sports. With an ACT score of 25, I have earned acceptance into my two top choice schools of Mizzou and Missouri S&T.
Community Service
Community service has been a huge part of of my high school career. Starting freshman year as an introduction to my school we are required to learn the meaning of service and how we can use our talents to help others. Sophomore year was my first notable experiences with working in St. Louis city rehabilitating houses with the Solomon Project. In the Spring of 2011 my school hosted the Special Olympics where I, with three other classmate were in charge of the track and field events. Junior year, every Monday after lunch I would volunteer in an Autistic class room at Ackerman Elementary School. Senior year I did more house rehabilitation in Van Buren, Mo. I am the President of the Multi-cultural Awareness Club and because of my service I will be receiving the MLK Model of Justice Award.
Arts
The world of art has interested me my whole life. In elementary school I taught myself drawing skills outside of the required art course with countless "How to Draw" books. My favorite was the "Dragon Ball Z" series. Musically, I was required to learn the recorder but I loved every second of it. In third grade I took orchestra lessons and played the violin until sixth grade where i picked up percussion. I performed on the snare, bass, and bell kit taking these skills to the marching band in seventh grade. From sixth to eighth grade I participated in Ferguson-Florrisant School District's dance program, Celebrate Children with lead and solo roles. I high school I took 3 semesters of art where I developed my love for pencil drawing. Now, I draw to my favorite music during some free time.
