ATTRIBUTES
Government
I have been the Class President for my graduating class since my sophomore year of high school. I oversee organization with many important activities, such as the graduation services, prom, senior banquet, cap and gown orders and fundraisers. I also help organize many activities for the school such as an upcoming teacher-student dodge ball game and a hallway decorating competition. In the past month, I have found a graduation speaker, sold holiday pies, and selected designs for prom tickets. Although busy, being Class President is a challenge I embrace.
Arts
Singing is a passion of mine. I have participated in singing choirs and ensembles since I can remember. I was a member of chorus throughout elementary and middle school. Now, I have been in choir for all four years of high school, being in the Honors Treble (all female) and Chambers Singers (male and females) ensembles. I served as a section leader for the 2011-2012 school year of the Soprano section. With this choir, we were selected to be the featured choir from the U.S. and Canada for the Heritage Festival program in New York which took place at Carnegie Hall last year. Aside from school, I sing in church choir, acquiring many solo pieces. I love music so much, that I am a part of the Tri-M Music Honors Society at school.
Athletics
I am an avid runner. Since sixth grade, I have taken pride in living a healthy lifestyle. Starting in eighth grade, I joined the cross country team and continued in my sophomore through senior years of high school. My 5K time went from 29:55 to 23:51 through excellent coaching and dedication. I run through rainstorms, snow, and 100 degree weather in my training. In August 2012, I also completed my first obstacle race, the 10.5 mile Spartan Race in Virginia with my sister. I hope to complete another race very soon.
