Academics
Academics are very important to me and I work hard to maintain high standards in my schoolwork. In my 8th grade year I won the Student of the Week award that was published in my city's newspaper. I have been on the gold honor roll every year since 9th grade. I have had a 4.0 GPA every year in high school. I won the Outstanding Speech Student of the Year award in 10th grade. In 11th grade I was awarded Academic All-State. I have also been a member of the National Honors Society all my years in high school. I scored a 29 on my ACT composite score and I am ranked as a number one in my senior class. I am currently in AP Biology, AP Statistics, and Advanced Chemistry along with my other courses.
Athletics
Athletics have always been a part of my life that I really enjoy. In 9th grade I played on the freshman girls basketball team in the winter. In the spring of my freshman year I played on junior varsity girls tennis team. My 10th grade I made the varsity girls tennis team. I played #2 doubles and made it all the way to the semifinals at State. I placed 3rd with my doubles partner and we won the All-City #2 doubles title. In my 11th grade year I was on varsity girls tennis as well. I moved up to the #1 doubles position and my partner and I made it to the second round at the State Tennis Tournament. My 11th grade year is also the year I won Academic All-State which was stated in the academics section. I will continue to play tennis my senior year and into college.
Community Service
Community Service is something I have always found to be fun and very fulfilling. Since I was about seven years old I have volunteered with my parents at Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach. At Matt Talbot I would help prepare and serve meals to the less fortunate in my city. I joined my school's Key Club in 9th grade and continued in the club to 11th grade when I became the Vice President. In Key Club we did many service projects. We raised money to give families thanksgiving dinners, provided May Day gifts for rehabilitation patients, and helped with the Step up Walk for Down Syndrome. Also in my 11th grade year I started to volunteer as a patient visitor at Bryan Health Hospital. I hope to continue my community service and expand upon it through all the years of my life.
