ATTRIBUTES
Academics
Throughout my high school career, I have managed to maintain a constant 4.0 GPA while enrolling in AP and honors classes each and every year. Despite the fact that I have been constantly helping out in my community and around the world, I have never lost focus on my school work. In fact, I will be graduating with an honors diploma and am in line to be valedictorian. Not only am I focused and committed to my education, but I have managed to remain ranked number one in a class of over 400 students. I have also overcome many family problems and succeeded in separating them from my schooling in order to come out on top.
Community Service
From the time I was young I have always had a passion for helping my community. I knew that the satisfaction achieved from helping those in need was far greater than my own personal gain. For this reason, I joined many community service clubs in high school. I am a board member of my school's Interact club, and i have held this position since I was a sophomore. Interact is a non-profit, serviced based organization that fights for, not only our community, but the whole world. I have lead a number of projects raising money for local and international causes. In addition to Interact Club, I have also recently joined my school's Sparrow club. Sparrow Club focuses on a single family in medical need and raises money to help pay their medical bills.
Other Achievements
The best year of my high school career was my junior year. Junior year, for me, was a year unlike any others. I spent this year in Denmark. I had been introduced to the Rotary Youth Exchange program in my sophomore year and I immediately applied. I have always loved traveling and I knew that being an exchange student would be an amazing opportunity for me. Living in Denmark changed my entire views on the world. Not only did I learn a new language, but I became part of another culture. I learned that there is nothing wrong with other customs and beliefs. They are just different. I now feel a part of a bigger community than just my family or high school. I have connections around the world and homes on two continents.
