Arts
I am the head drum major for the marching band at my high school. When I was a sophmore I decided that I wanted a leadership position in the band. I auditioned for the drum major position, and I actually got the position. As well as being the drum major, I am a large influence in the theatre program. I have played many leads in the programs inside high school and middle school. I come to all of the set construction days and I teach the freshman valuable things about theatre with each production. As well as theatre and band, I also paint. This Christmas, I painted all of my friends shirts for the holiday. My theatre teacher even paid me $50 to make her shirts for her siblings. This is how I excel in the arts.
Athletics
I am a valuable member of my swim team. My freshman year was a tough time for me. I was not the slimmest girl by any means, and when images of emaciated women from magizines float through your 14 year old mind, thats all you can aspire to be. I decided that I needed to take action and join a sport. At first, I was a very slow swimmer, dragging down the team with every race. However, I pushed through, lost 30 pounds, and now am a great asset to the team. I'm very skilled at freestyle and I constantly work on my other strokes. My freshman year, after hours of practice and turmoil, I won the most improved award. This year, I'm working towards having a better mental attitude. At every practice, I'm always the one to yell, "FEEL THE BURN! THE BURN IS GOOD!"
Academics
At my high school we offer one of the most rigorous courses for academics in the world; the International Bachelloriete program. Every class offers a broader study of the material. When in each of your classes, you not only learn the material, but culture as well. Even in math, you are constantly learning about different sports that are played in other countries and different terminologies for certain things. Even while being in this vigorous course of study, I remain near top of my class with a GPA of 3.6. I am involved in so many after school activities, and these only expand my knowledge. Education is one of the most cherished values that I have, and I make sure that my academics are a priority.
