ATTRIBUTES
Academics
Academically, I excel. I have a 4.0 GPA on 4.0 scale-unweighted. I have striven to earn all A's in the classes that I have taken throughout high school. I have taken all of the AP classes that i found interesting and challenging such as AP Chemistry, AP Calculus and AP US History; I have earned natural A's in these classes. I have received many awards from my high schools such as Principal's Honor Role and various math awards. Due to my grades, I am a part of the National Honors Society at Grayson High School. I take pride in my grades, as I am a determined person that only strives for the best.
Arts
Anything art related is a passion of mine. Since childhood, doodles and sketches filled my loose papers and binder covers. Yes, academics have always been a priority, but art is my sanctuary. I love it all; graphite, charcoal, pastels, acrylic, watercolor, wire, scratchboard, paper, canvas, clay, plaster, wood-anything can be used to create something beautiful. My mind unwinds and all I can focus on is what strokes I am producing. I have won many awards; since elementary school, I have won local contests and even won a state wide contest in the 5th grade for the GA DOT. My work was exhibited in the Atlanta Institute last spring because it was chosen by the prestigious Dogwood Festival; my piece also won People's choice. I won 1st place at my school for the Reflections Contest.
Other Achievements
To many, obstacles are setbacks in regards to personal goals; to me, they are also lessons. My parents moved to the U.S. from the war torn county of Bosnia in 1996; with the horrors and struggles that they experienced, they could not keep our family together so they got a divorce when I was only 9 years old. Since then, I don't speak to my father and my mom, two sisters and I are trying to keep ends meet. We have struggled, but that has driven me o grow up to be different. I want to go to college, earn a degree, and be an independent woman that will not struggle. I have come so far; I could have chosen to be just an ordinary student, but I have pushed myself because I know where I want to go and how I am going to get there.
