ATTRIBUTES
Community Service
Contributing to my community and volunteering is very important to me. I have done over 200 service hours in my four years of high school and I plan to do much more. I have cooked for the homeless, helped with the elderly, and tutored small children, but none of them compares to what I did this summer. The most life changing work experience that I had was working in El Salvador for Habitat for Humanity. The families that we built houses for had nothing as privileged as we do. Most of the families lived in small two room houses that housed up to eight people. It was such a complete shock to see how happy and generous those people still were. Spending my summer to give back to those who needed my help put me into a state of mind that showed me life's true treasures
Academics
During my four years in high school, I have challenged myself and taken many honors and AP classes. The classes that I enjoyed the most were the ones in the realm of science. I want to major in Psychology because the way the mind works is extremely fascinating. Being in AP Psychology this year has introduced me to a realm of studies that I want to continue to learn about for as long as I possibly can. Growing up with two different cultures influencing me, I find myself wondering about mental processes and emotions around the world. Ultimately, I would like to become a clinical psychologist, using my knowledge of Russian, Spanish, and English to work with multicultural populations.
Athletics
I am grateful to be a leader for my Varsity tennis team, leading us, together, to success. This to me is what being elected as captain is about. The position has given me the great responsibility of keeping my team in excellent shape, and being by their side in any situation. I have become a dedicated and determined leader who will do anything to motivate the success of my team. Recently, I received the award for Most Inspirational Player. I feel honored that I can use my talent to help out my teammates, taking pride in inspiring all the players to make the right choices and to avoid negative attitudes. My leadership has made my team a close-knit family, bound together by motivation, dedication, trust, friendship and love.
