ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
I have been swimming since I was 7 years old for the YMCA swim team. As soon as I entered 9th grade I began swimming for my High School team. I have gone to State in team medley and butterfly the last 2 years. I have also served as team captain my Jr. & Sr. years. I have received awards for sportsmanship, leadership, & an athletic academic award. I was recognized by kfor news channel 4 as Student Athlete of the week. I lead, encourage, and inspire my team to do their very best.
I have also played softball since I was 5. I played competitively and went to state competitions every year. I played through my Freshman year but decided to focus solely on my swimming after that. I participated in soccer from my pre k year all the way through my 6th grade year.
Work
I have a very strong work ethic. My first job I received was working at my church nursery when I was 15 1/2. I continue to work there to this day. I am always willing to work when they call and need me. My other job is with the YMCA. I began my first day there on my 16th Birthday! I worked in the child watch for a year, when I decided to get some extra hours working in the pool as a lifeguard. Before I knew it, I was teaching children life saving skills of water safety and swimming. I very much enjoy working with kids! After teaching swim lessons and life guarding for 3 months I was promoted to Swim Team Coach. I have never missed a day of work and I am always on time. I feel very lucky to work with children. I feel I am doing more then bringing home a paycheck. I'm saving lives!
Academics
I am very strong academically. Despite all the time I spend in sports and work I manage to maintain a 3.8 weighted GPA. Last summer I took my first concurrent college coarse and passed with an A. I recently finished 9 concurrent college hours and passed with an A in Comp 1 & speech and a B in college algebra. I am currently enrolled in concurrent Comp II, Art History, & American History for my spring semester. I will have completed 24 hours once I begin my first semester at OU. I am a member of the National Honor Society. I am excited about starting my college career ahead of so many others. My grades are important to me and that reflects in my GPA. Though I my extra curricular athletics and work affect them at times, I am always able to maintain primarily A's with the occasional B.
