Arts
As vice president of the theatre program at my school, I do my best to enhance the program and engage students into this wonderful activity. It's a great experience to perform on the stage and put all your soul into the art. Because of that, I have created a musical theatre ensemble group at my school to introduce individuals to this sister branch. Being a director and choreographer was a new experience for me and gained more confidence in myself as a performer. I have also extended my love for acting into my local community theatre. Through my high school theatre career, I have received numerous awards in the classroom and at competitions, like Outstanding Student and 1st place for Classical scene. I was also apart of my high school choir where we earned two silver and one gold trophy.
Academics
Coming into high school, I wanted to learn immediately. I ended my freshman year with a 4.0. Thus, I wanted a challenge. I took vigorous classes such as AP courses, Physics Honors, and Calculus to obtain new knowledge everyday. Throughout my high school career, I have maintained high honor roll. Thinking my freshmen year and sophomore year were simple with my honors and mandatory classes, I decided to explore my academic knowledge. In the past two years, I have built a boat made of cardboard, paint and duct tape that floated successfully across the water, got my English essay published on a website, dissected a sheep's brain, created a battery, understood the use of derivatives, and passed my AP exams. Learning about diverse subjects leads to interesting and wonderful discoveries.
Community Service
I was apart of the Humane Club which we would volunteer on a weekly basis at the Miracle Animal Rescue Center. As a group, we assisted the animals by giving them love and attention. At times, I would communicate with those willing to adopt a pet to give them a new home. I have also extended my love for acting into my local community theatre. There, I absorbed every lesson, rehearsal and new techniques into my work. In addition I was exposed to set design and costuming by volunteering at the same place. It was enjoyable being able to not only be apart of the cast but also be a tech crew by painting sets, knowing which props to utilize and assisting the costumer. I also have tutored many individuals who struggle with biology and world history for 3 years.
