In Francis Howell High School, Color Guard is extremely competitive. During the fall season the color guard performs with the marching band. My band in the fall season is very successful. The judges are constantly saying how impressed they are with our color guard and how they can't wait to see our winter guard show. During the winter season the color guard, or winter guard, performs on a tarp with recorded music. There are different competitive classes. Francis Howell's winter guard is in scholastic A but has promise this year of advancing to scholastic open. This advancement is a great honor and lot of work. The biggest goal is to place in finals and possibly win at Winter Guard International championships in Dayton, Ohio. In order to succeed at this goal we practice fifteen hours/week.
Faith
I was born into a religious family. My parents are divorced so my dad isn't religious but he doesn't have much of an impact in my life. My mom was raised Catholic when she was younger but then became Baptist when she became old enough to understand religion and choose for herself. When I was younger I went to First Harvester Baptist Church. It's a rather large church and had plenty of programs to learn and broaden your religious views. I learned the most in the program called AWANA. I memorized and studied four hundred sixty eight verses from the bible by the time of fifth grade. Then my mom preferred smaller churches so we moved to Bethesda Baptist Church. The Entire Church is composed of about fifty people. Our pastor is very wise and has impacted my view on my religion and life greatly
Community Service
My mother raised me with the knowledge that I was extremely blessed and spoiled. This knowledge has kept me from becoming ungrateful for everything I have so I love to give to others who don't have as much or as many opportunities. When I was little I would help collect food for the local food bank and donate extra clothes to people in need. When I became older I started volunteering at the local food bank and hospitals. I would package food at the food bank and bring cheer and an open ear for patients in hospitals. This Community service has only led me to be more grateful for the many blessings and gifts I have. In high school I even joined A+ and volunteered to help tutor younger children. After all education is the start to a better community.
