I got in! Just a few short days ago on December 10, 2012 my future was set, I was accepted Early Decision to the prestigious Vassar College, something I thought was impossible. After practicing for my optional Your space performance of Theme for English B I knew my I put my heart into it. No one at my high school had ever applied to Vassar and no one I knew had applied Early Decision to any schools, I was going to be the first at my high school in a long time to try and get in to a highly selective University. I am glad I did though because now I am an example of what dedication and hope can bring. Now whenever students want to try and get accepted to these big universities and not just go to the local community college they will have an example to look up too.
Community Service
I was elected Link Crew president where I could take a more active role in advertising events and promoting interaction between Link crew leaders and their freshman. I started a Facebook page for the Link Crew leaders so they could be informed and reminded of all events and where I could give praise to those Link Crew leaders who contacted their freshman and went to events. I wrote and directed a play to promote anti bullying and was performed at the freshman assembly. My motto is if we
uplift our youth then our community will improve. Link Crew equipped me with the skills necessary to mentor and motivate youth of all ages so they could have unlimited possibilities.
Athletics
As a four year varsity, I spend almost all my time playing and practicing golf during season. As an underclassmen I spent my time learning the sport having fun while making new friends, but when junior year hit both my coach and five out of our 7 teammate were leaving. We believed golf was over. I was not going to let golf end without a fight I searched for a new golf coach by first asking teachers I know played golf and then assistant coaches to other sports to see if they had time. I had found our lovable coach and now I just needed to recruit players. I had asked my friends who eagerly joined knowing how much fun I had since I consistently talked about it. Junior year and Senior golf was amazing we had so much fun and really enjoyed the sport.
