ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have been an honor roll student since middle school. In middle school I was in the Montessori magnet program where I was given rigorous work to prepare for high school. Now in high school I am taking 4 AP courses, 2 Honors courses, and 1 regular course. I currently have a G.P.A of 4.0. I am currently enrolled in the Cambridge magnet program at my high school. This is a college preparatory program. With this program, if I pass 6 AICE courses and exams from Cambridge University I will be eligible to receive a second diploma. This in turn can help me to get into a prestigious medical college and bring me one step closer to my dream of becoming a Pediatrician.
Community Service
I have been volunteering ever since I could remember. In the 9th grade I volunteered over the summer at a daycare/preschool called Children’s Village. There I assisted the teachers with the kids, I read them stories, threw out the trash, served lunch, and played as a camp counselor during summer camp. In the 10th grade I signed up with Kids In Distress where I assisted during various events. I also acquired a position at North Broward Hospital where I assisted nurses, restocked rooms, and tended to the needs of the patients. This past summer I acquired a position at Memorial Regional Hospital where I assisted nurses, restocked shelves, and tended to the needs of the patients. I currently tutor ESOL student’s afterschool.
Faith
I have grown up in a Christian home. Though I was surrounded by church family I never really took God seriously until a couple of years ago. I was 12 years old when I was diagnosed with an incurable disease by the doctors. I was told that I would have to live with a crippling disease for the rest of my life. It was at that moment that I began to really cry out to God. After 2 years of heavy duty medicine and constant doctors’ visits I began to question if God was real. However one day in church God touched my body and the disease was nowhere to be found in my body. Since then I have made God the center of my life. I have begun to serve in my church, Christian Life Center. I am a part of the adult choir, the youth choir, the student leadership team, the media team, and the kid’s ministry.
