Academics
I take pride in my academics because I have always worked and studied hard for my grades. During high school, I took challenging honors and AP classes such as: AP Calculus II, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Literature, and many more. Even during my senior year, I am currently in 5 different AP classes. It has taken effort and determination to maintain a cumulative GPA of 4.36 and remain on distinguished honor roll all four years.
I was recently named a National Merit Commended Scholar for my performance on the PSAT. I scored above 200 and was in the top 5% of the country. I have taken the ACT, and my composite score was 33. I received a perfect 36 on the subsection of English and above 30’s on the other sections of the ACT.
Athletics
Soccer has been an important aspect of my life since I was a child. When I was five, I started playing micro soccer with kids from my school. Now I play on a Midwest Regional club team against kids from all over the country. My team has won multiple state championships in the last few years, including this past year. Soccer has taught me the importance of commitment and dedication. With practices and games multiple times a week, I have to learn to focus and prioritize my time in order to manage both school and soccer. Soccer also has taught me significance of leadership. As captain of a few teams, I realized how one could lead by both words and actions. In soccer, and in life, it is important to be a leader by what I say and how I act.
Community Service
Helping others through service is something I care deeply about. My Catholic high school required us to do over 50 service hours; however, I looked at these more as opportunities rather than requirements. Having this outlook helped me to reach out beyond the requirements and truly help others. Over the summers, I often helped teach young children at Vacation Bible School. It was a great opportunity to help the program and teach the kids about our faith. Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together are programs that I have worked with that help build and rebuild houses for families who need them. Through building a house, I could not only see the impact we were having on the family, but for the whole community. Service has become very important to me, and it will continue to be significant.
