Other Achievements
I have served on the Washington DECA State Officer team as the Area Nine President in 2011-2012, and currently serve as the State President. I have been an active DECA member since 2009, and have excelled to the top in leadership. I serve on a team with eleven other members from across Washington state. My duties include making visitations to chapters across the state, hosting state conferences, public speaking, staying in contact with National DECA, utilizing social media, reaching our community service goal of 25,000 dollars, and leading my team to success. I created the State Officer program of work for the 2012-2013 school year, and keep in contact with my officers monthly via conference calls and email to achieve our set goals. I proudly represent 11,000 members in Washington DECA.
Arts
Since 2005, I have played the violin. As a senior in high school, my skills have paid off as I sit first stand, first violin. I am one of the best in my orchestra, and have competed at the solo and ensemble string orchestra contest from 2007- 2010 as a soloist, receiving a score ranging from a one (the best you can do) to a three (average). My string orchestra group attends annual string festivals where we consistently receive scores of one. I regularly perform in all seasonal concerts as well as rehearsal from Monday through Friday in the mornings. Orchestra is an art of reading music, playing the music correctly, and adding the right amount of technique to excel at perfection. I am confident in my skills as a high school violinist.
Community Service
There are three organizations that I am actively volunteering with: Shekinah Christian Center youth ministries, Young Life, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities. I have spent over sixty hours volunteering with Shekinah since September, 2011. My job duties include leading preschool and elementary school kids in their walk with God, planning special events, and holding lead roles with performances. I have been involved with Young Life ministries since September 2010 where I serve as a leader reaching out to students, praying for them, and being their friend as they learn about Christ, if they choose. I have raised over 940 dollars for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, volunteered my time to work at the Ronald McDonald Houses, and sent various needed donation items since September 2012.
