ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
I played junior varsity basketball as a freshman and varsity as a sophomore and junior. As a freshman I made the flag football Varsity team. My team voted me as “Offensive MVP” my freshman, sophomore and junior year, and as Team Captain as a junior. With many honorable mentions, I was selected to the Western Conference Federal Division the last 3 years. In 2010, I was picked for the Florida All-State Flag Football Team 3rd Team Defense. As a junior in 2012, I was selected to the Tampa Tribune All County Team and to the Florida All-State 1st Team Offense; which is the highest award given in high school flag football. Recently I was awarded the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. Currently I hold close to two dozen high school, season and career records for flag football.
Academics
Out of the 459 students in my graduating class, I am ranked 51st; which is the top 11% of my class. I currently hold a 4.55 weighted GPA. Throughout my career in high school I have steadily challenged myself with taking Honors and Advance Placement courses. I have consistently been a student on the high honor roll. Recently I was awarded the Lamp of Learning award at my high school for maintaining an annual GPA of 3.5 or higher at the end of grades 10th, 11th and the end of the first semester for grade twelve. During the summer of my senior year, I enrolled and completed two dual enrollment courses at a local community college and finished with a 4.0 GPA.
Community Service
With my love and passion for sports, it was a natural stepping stone for me to become a volunteer coach for the national youth sports organization that I had participated in prior as a player. I was one of a few high school student-athletes given the opportunity to coach. Throughout the last two years I have mentored children on the fundamentals of flag football, the values of dedication, sportsmanship, teamwork and staying physically active; all while having fun. I witness many times over individuals on my team becoming more goal oriented and confident as they experience the benefits of working hard and learning the importance of not quitting. Currently, I have a total of 145 hours of community service. This year I also began working for this sports organization as a referee.
