Academics
In June, I will graduate with an Advanced Honors Diploma which was created to recognize sustained academic achievement of extraordinary distinction, and to encourage students to take full advantage of the rich academic offerings at ASCS. As a member of the National Honor Society, I have a 3.95 gpa, and will graduate with 12 dual enrollment college credit hours in which I have earned A’s in each of these courses. I have worked hard to maintain high achievement in academics while participating in athletics, volunteering in my community, and serving in numerous leadership roles. This year I have the privilege of serving as our school chaplain.
Athletics
I played jv basketball and earned All-State honors in Varsity Football, but my love is baseball. I participated on a AAU National Championship Team where I was named on the All Tournament Team. I have received All Conference Awards 2 years and All-State Honors 3 years. In 2012 I was named an Under Armour Pre-Season All American and a Perfect Game All-American Honorable Mention. I was awarded the Conference Player of the Year, and the school baseball MVP. I lead Virginia in homeruns, RBI’s, and runs. I played in the USA Baseball Tournament of Stars where I helped my team win the gold medal. I was named to the All-Area Team. I received the Wendy’s Heisman Award for my school. I have been named the 2012 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame High School Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
Community Service
I have had the pleasure of using my athletic ability and experience to serve my community. I am a summer volunteer at my local hospital in the physical therapy department and cardiac rehabilitation. I coached disabled children in the World Series Jamboree and for my school’s little Seahawk baseball program. For 3 years, I have delivered Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents through an organization called Outreach for Christ. I also volunteer at my church in the maintenance department where I help with the facilities from picking up trash, moving furniture, to painting hallways and rooms. I have also volunteered at the church in the children’s department as a substitute teacher of 5th grade boys as well as participated as a cast member for the children’s production.
