Academics
My academic average is 89.4. I have taken two honors classes in History, four IB classes in French, English and History and 3 college classes, Psychology, Introduction to College Studies and Sociology, for which I have earned college credit. I have been on the Honor Roll every quarter throughout all of my four years of high school. I was awarded the Chemistry Achievement Award through the Rochester Section Inc. of the American Chemical Society. This year I am enrolled in a class in which two times a week I teach the preschoolers and the 4th graders French. In addition, I just received a Scholar Athlete Award which I also received last year as well.
Athletics
I have played volleyball for my school, Canandaigua Academy for six years. I was my team captain both my sophomore year and my senior year. I received the Captains award and made the All-State team my senior year. I also played a travel club team called Xtreme Volleyball for two years. There were three weekends of try-outs to make a team. The first year I made the 15-2's team while my second year I made the 16-1's team. The first number indicates the age bracket while the second number displays the level of the players, with a one being the best. During club volleyball I got a chance to play in tournaments in Washington DC, Baltimore, Lancaster, Troy and at Penn State. It was a very enriching experience and I made lasting friendships with girls from other schools.
Community Service
I have volunteered at a local nursing home since I was a little girl. I have assisted with the activities, getting residents to the programs they would like to attend and provided visits. I also helped coach volleyball to elementary and middle school students. In addition, my school volleyball team and club volleyball team have completed community service projects such as raising money for the Cancer Society and for the Veterans. I have also volunteered for a commercial for Roseland Water Park. Plus, I have helped welcome the upcoming freshmen to the high school for the past two years in what my school calls "Link Crew". This gives upcoming Freshmen an upper class man who can show them around, answer questions and help them feel comfortable.
