Arts
I recently directed "Willy Wonka Jr. : The Musical." It was a musical put on for my Sterling Scholar project. It involved children 8-14. I casted it, choreographed it, taught music and acting skills, organized the performances, designed lights, and advertised. All of this took me over 200 hours over about a 3 month period. We performed it twice for the community and in just two performances raised over $2500! I donated the profit made to the Delta High School drama department. I also have been the section leader in the Chamber Choir in my school for three years. I have played Maurice in "Beauty and the Beast', Frank Butler in "Annie Get Your Gun", and Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof." I have also sang in the Allstate Choir of Utah for two years in a row.
Athletics
I have been a part of athletics at Delta High School since I was a sophomore. I have thrown the shot put and discus for the track and field team. I placed tenth at state competition my Junior year in the discus. I have also been wrestling for Delta High School and last year helped lead the team to their thirtieth State Championship and the fourth State Championship in a row! I am ranked very high in the discus at State Track and Field this year and plan on working hard to obtain my goal as a State Champion in Track and Field.
Government
My sophomore year in high school, I, and one other student from my school, were selected by the state of Utah to spend a week in Washington D.C. to learn of our country's history. To attend this, the only thing we were required to do was to read the novel "1776." In Washington D.C. we went to places such as: The Lincoln Memorial, the White House, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, several sections of the Smithsonian Museum, the Holocaust museum, the Australian Embassy, the Capitol, and many more places! We had the opportunity to meet our Senators and other Congressmen from Utah. It was a very amazing experience and I learned many things about our government and the history of our wonderful country of the United States.
