ATTRIBUTES
Arts
I have been involved in the art of dance for almost 14 years; beginning at the age of 4. I am an active competitive Scottish Highland dancer with multiple awards and achievements. I travel all over Florida for competitions as well as a few in Georgia, North and South Carolina. This year I was nominated for the highly regarded Sadie Simpson Scholarship via the British Assoc. of Teachers of Dancing (BATD) and competed for that on a cruise ship to the Bahamas this past October. I aspire to become a certified teacher of Scottish dance by next summer (2013). I am also involved in my studio's performing ensemble as the active Vice President. We perform throughout the Central Florida community and put on two professional performances in the year. I have a true passion for dance and always will.
Academics
I have always been an "over-achiever" when it comes to school. I never like to settle for mediocre work and therefore always strive to the best that i possibly can in everything and anything that I do. I have always kept either Straight A's or A's and B's throughout my entire school career. Specifically in high school I have be able to remain on the Principal's honor roll (4.0 and higher) for all four years thus far. Multiple teachers have used my work as examples for the rest of the class to follow and also nominate me for student of the month and other various honors. i thrive in environments where I am able to get exceptional work done and never fail to put forth my full effort no matter what the challenge or assignment is. I hope to major in Biomedical sciences/engineering in college.
Community Service
Ever since my freshman year in high school I have been actively involved in community service projects. I started out with being a part of Pet Rescue by Judy. I helped to take care of the dogs and cats brought into our local mall and spoke with people in the store about the particular animal I was watching over hoping to get them adopted. I learned great tools of communication as I was put into a position where I had to reach out to people and bring them in. I also like to help my church with any community service events I can such as the Fall festival they put on, or feeding the homeless in downtown Orlando every month; whether I help to cook the food or serve it. Most recently I have a volunteer position at the local YMCA (Oviedo), helping out in Club Y with the younger children.
