ATTRIBUTES
Arts
As an active member of the percussion section, I contributed to our high school band’s successful performances. As a group, we consistently achieved top marks in all of our competitions. In fact, I was part of the 2010 University of Interscholastic League Concert Band competition, in which my band was awarded second place out of over one thousand Texas 3A Division high school bands. I also assumed responsibility for the drum line while serving as Bass Line Captain from 2011-2013.
Athletics
I have participated in track & field since my freshman year of high school. I compete in 200m, 400m, 400m Relay, 800m Relay, 1600m Relay, 110m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and high jump events. This past year, I assumed a leadership role by serving as Track & Field Assistant, keeping official times and encouraging my teammates to strive to be their best. I was also part of the relay team that broke our high school record in the 1600m Relay by running the 4th leg of the race.
Other Achievements
I have been a scuba diver since the summer of 2010. Since then, I have obtained 16 PADI certifications including Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Underwater Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Diver Propulsion Vehicle, Boat Diver, Deep Diver, Altitude Diver, Night Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Nitrox, Search & Recovery, and Rescue. I’m on track to become a Master Scuba Diver by the summer of 2013.
In 2012, I also organized an environmental service project called, “Clean Green.” The project consisted of 5 main components: sharing messages about conservation, advocating for the protection of our oceans, rebuilding part of a tropical ecosystem, supporting the care and development of animals, and participating in the largest lake clean-up event in Texas.
