Academics
I have always excelled and challenged myself in academics. I have taken the more difficult classes at my high school including honors and AP courses in English, chemistry, biology, geometry, algebra II, world history, and American history. Despite these tough classes, I have still managed to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.71 and make the honor and high honor roll throughout my academic career. My favorite subjects are English and history because I love to read, write, and learn about true events. I am known by my teachers to be a very hard-working student who always tries her best and isn't afraid to ask for help. Currently, I have a GPA of 3.92 and am one of the few members in my school's chapter of the National Honors Society.
Arts
Even at a young age, the arts have always had a signifigant influence in my life. Since elementary school, I have sung in my church's junior choir and studied piano. I have also learned to play the flute, piccolo, guitar, trombone, and bassoon. I play the trombone in my high school's marching band and the bassoon in concert band and the NH Youth Symphony Orchestra. I am really passionate about playing the bassoon and often spends hours practicing. I was also accepted to be a participant in the 2010 NHMEA All State Festival for the bassoon in concert band. In addition to my instrumental accomplishments, I was also sang with the Nashua Symphony Choral Society and am currently a member of the Tri-M Music National Honors Society at my school.
Community Service
Through my many extra-curricular activities, I have been fortunate to become involved in many community service projects. As a student council representative, I help run the annual canned food drive at school and deliver it to families struggling during Thanksgiving. Also, we sponsor a family every year and purchase their Christmas presents for them. In my youth ministry group, we would spend much time delivering food and gifts to underprivilaged families. I have also volunteered at the Nashua Soup Kitchen with other members of the National Honors Society. Also, I am involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters of America where I am a Big Sister to a 6 year old boy named Jeremy. I visit him in his after school program where we read and play games.
