ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have maintained a 4.0 GPA or higher (weighted) for all four consecutive years of high school, and I take a rigorous class load as well. I am in a special program called Legacy 2000, which focuses on math, science, and technology and aims at preparing students for professional careers. This course not only prompts me to explore careers, but it also teaches me important skills such as public speaking, paper-writing skills, and experimental design. By the end of my senior year, I will have completed 5 AP courses as well as 3 College Preparatory courses, ensuring that I remain academically challenged.
Athletics
I have been a member of the varsity tennis team for 3 consecutive seasons, which has given me a wonderful opportunity to experience athletics at my school as well as meet many new individuals. Girl's Tennis is competitive and as such it requires a good deal of hard work and commitment, with daily practice and numerous out-of-school tournaments. I play doubles tennis, meaning I have a partner, so I must cooperate with my teammates and communicate in order to succeed. The camaraderie of the team is truly delightful and it is a great way to put my extra energy to good use as well as stay fit during the school year. I have also received the Academic Scholar's award for two seasons, meaning I maintained a 4.0 while participating in a varsity sport.
Community Service
I have completed over 100 hours of community service through activities such as the Interfaith Hospitality Network, where I fed and hosted homeless families as neighborhood churches, Denkai Animal Sanctuary, where I assisted in pre-surgery care for spaying and neutering procedures, Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where I cared for orphaned or injured squirrels and other wildlife, and much, much more. I am extremely involved in my community and am always looking for opportunities to give back. I also participate in many service projects through my church, which has been a great resource for me in that aspect, and I am an active member of my school's chapter of the National Honor Society.
