ATTRIBUTES
Academics
All four years of my high school career I have attended an advanced school for mathematics, science, and technology for half of my school day. The courses in that school along with my normal school have been vigorous. Some of the advanced classes I have taken include AP Psychology, AP Government, AP Studio Art, AP Biology, and AP Calculus. I have gotten all A’s and B’s in my classes ever since they started giving out actual letter grades which was in middle school. On my first try of taking the ACT, I received a composite score of 33. I have been successful in remaining in the top two spots in my class rank for the past four years. I am working to graduate as valedictorian this year.
Faith
I have attended my church, Renaissance Unity, since I was 5 years old. Some of the activities I have volunteered for include the haunted house that my church used to put on and the spring picnic. For the past eight years I have helped my mother run the two year old classroom during church services two times a month. I also used to volunteer in childcare during holiday services. During Christmastime, my family and I make gingerbread houses out of graham crackers for the annual gingerbread village. We also set up and clean up candy stations for the families at the church to decorate their houses with. During my 7th and 8th grade years I went on camping retreats with the youth group at my church.
Technology
I have gone to the Macomb Mathematics Science Technology Center all four years of high school. In that time, I have become very well educated in the area of technology. Some of the things I have learned over the years include Q-Basic, Visual Basic, and Java programming. I am also familiar with solid works which is a CAD program. I have even learned HTML and made my own website, although I have no domain name to publish it on the internet. Lastly, I have done scientific research for the past four years. This includes using technology such as a Lab Quest, TI-nspire, and computer to collect data, conduct statistical analysis, type a formal research paper, and put together a formal presentation.
