Academics
Throughout my high school career, I have worked diligently to maintain a high academic standard for myself. In the accumulation of my sophomore and junior years, I took four AP courses, all of which I made an "A" in. This year, my senior year, I am taking five AP courses and I hope to do just as well in those classes. My GPA is a 97.4 on a 100 point scale, something that I am very proud of. From day one of my high school career, I have been focused on making the kind of grades that will put me in a good position for college acceptance. When my peers and I were choosing classes for senior year, most were shocked when I announced that I would be taking five AP courses. I does not bother me in the least, though, because I know that I will be extremely prepared for college.
Community Service
I am very passionate about community service. I will graduate as an Honor Cord Recipient, with 370 hours of service. I am involved in two major projects. I founded the Stars of Hope Toiletry Drive with my sister in 2010. In this project, we collect travel size toiletries and baby items for donation to the Star of Hope homeless shelter in Houston. The project has been an overwhelming success. Over both years, we have collected 800 bags of toiletries and 1000 diapers. I consider myself very fortunate to have started such a project. I am also a co-chair of Prom Angels. In this project, myself and 3 other seniors collect prom attire, and hold a day in which girls who cannot afford prom wear come to pick out an outfit. This too is a very rewarding project, which I am proud to be a part of.
