Academics
I have been on honor roll for all of my high school years with above a 4.0 G.P.A. (in general, I have been around a 4.7), and I am currently in the running for Valedictorian. I have received Student of the Year for, so far, three of my high school years from the Mathematics department. My junior year, I took 5 AP courses and passed 4 of my exams with a score of a 3, which qualifies me as an official "AP Scholar". I am currently taking another 5 AP courses for my senior year. I was asked to become a member of the National Society of High School Scholars in the summer of 2012 due to all of my "outstanding academic achievements". I have also been asked to be a part of the United States Achievement Academy as well as its National Yearbook for two years in a row.
Athletics
I was the very first person to ever be in my high school’s pool. I began the school’s aquatics program from the ground up alongside my coaches, and I have been the captain of the Girls’ Varsity Water Polo team for all of my high school years. As a team we went to a tournament at Martin Luther King High School, and won three out of four games. I received the Coach’s Award my junior year. I also participate in U.S.A. Club Water Polo, which takes place at my campus pool four days a week. I am one of the oldest players that go, and therefore, I tend to mentor the younger players who are brand new to the sport. Through the club water polo, I went to another tournament at Costa Mesa High School, and there we won four out of four games and went undefeated.
Arts
I began doing the graphic arts for yearbook and journalism my freshman year of high school, and I have been the Layout and Design Editor for both ever since. I am also currently enrolled in the AP Studio Art course offered on my campus. Additionally, I annually enter my photography into the National Date Festival, and have won numerous 1st and 2nd place prizes over the years. Due to all my experiences with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Josten’s YearTech Online, and traditional art tools, I have formed a love for the digital and traditional arts; this set of skills has shaped me in a way which will affect some of my major life choices: what college I’ll go to, what I’ll major in, and what career choice I’ll make.
